With so many different soil products out on the market, what makes Nutrarich soils - in particular their Mature Compost and Soil Conditioner so good! and sets them apart from the rest?

Nutrarich is produced by a wholly owned and run Western Australian company and Nutrarich Mature Compost and Soil conditioner are both formulated “fully matured”, organic fertilisers. They are refined/screened at 6mm or under, with a pH of approximately 6.5-7 and a Carbon to Nitrogen ratio of 10:1

Nutrarich Mature Compost and Soil Conditioner contain three major elements being - Nitrogen , Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K) while also including:
- Humus,
- Rapid growth and multiplication of Microbes (Nitrogen-fixing bacteria) and
- Micro and trace elements.

HEALTHY SOILS MAKE HEALTHY PLANTS
Nutrarich Mature Compost and Soil Conditioner create an optimal environment for sustained, strong plant growth by combining the benefits of humus rich organic matter with Nitrogen , Phosphate (P), Potassium (K) and trace elements all in one product. Nutrarich promotes a stronger, healthier root system with deeper penetration, encouraging flowering, fruiting and enhancing the flavour of crops while retaining valuable moisture in the soil.

SO WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN - COMPOST, CHEMICAL, MULCH OR MANURE?
Unlike “mulches” and “manures” Nutrarich Mature Compost and Soil Conditioner are both a “fully matured” compost which can contain up to 60% humus. The composting process also ensures plant pathogens and weed seeds are killed and not transferred to your garden.

-MULCHES- can transfer plant disease to your garden and are very high in carbon and can actually pull nitrogen from the soil as they continue to break down, resulting in less nutrients for your plant to use.

-RAW MANURES- can provide immediate benefit from the N, P and K they contain but continue to compost in the soil. This means that out of the 25kg bag you buy, you eventually end up with less than 25% of that amount in the soil. They can also contain live weed seeds. As Nutrarich Mature Compost and Soil Conditioner have already been fully composted it remains in the soil for much longer - so you get value for money.

-CHEMICAL FERTILISERS- deliver N, P and K in a readily available form but are micronutrient deficient. If applied incorrectly or in excess, inorganic fertilisers can burn roots and damage the plant. Unless additional organic matter is provided over time, these fertilisers will destroy the balance in the soil as well as reducing water retention, and soil productivity, while increasing erosion and the chance of polluting the groundwater.

LET’S TALK ABOUT - HUMUS - “ LIFE FORCE OF THE SOIL”
Humus is often described as the “life force” of the soil. It is a mixture of compounds and complex life chemicals of plant, animal and microbial origin, which has many functions and benefits in the soil. Some humus complexes can remain in the soil for thousands of years!

-PHYSICAL PROPERTIES-
Humus encourages the formation of good soil structure and holds 80-90% of its weight in water, keeping moisture in the soil near the plant. A necessity for Australian plants.

-CHEMICAL PROPERTIES - SUSTAINED RELEASE-
Humus is an excellent source of plant nutrients, it has many active sites binding ions (cations) of plant nutrients. While these nutrient cations are accessible to plants, they are held in the soil safe from leaching away by rain and irrigation. The biochemical structure of humus enables it to moderate or buffer excessive acid or alkaline soil conditions, stabilising the pH value of soil.

-MICROBIOLOGICAL EFFECT-
Compost provides food and creates an ideal environment for a wide variety of beneficial micro-organisms essential for healthy soil and plants. Not only do these microbes suppress plant pathogens and diseases but they can fix free atmospheric nitrogen in the soil and convert it into the nitrate form required by plants.
